BDSM Dungeons, Before You Go.
BDSM dungeons are play spaces fitted with crosses, benches and rope points, run on house rules with someone keeping watch over safety. My BDSM Directory doesn't list venues. It's where you meet kinksters near you, talk things over first, and maybe find someone to go with. Joining is free.

What are BDSM dungeons, exactly?
BDSM dungeons are rooms, sometimes whole buildings, set aside for kinky play, with furniture you'd never squeeze into an ordinary bedroom: a St. Andrew's cross, a spanking bench, a cage, ceiling hooks for rope. Forget the stone walls from the movies. Plenty look more like a dim lounge, with good light over the equipment and a couch for winding down afterward. What turns a room into a dungeon is how it's run: written rules, someone on hand to watch, and an understanding that everything happening there was agreed beforehand. Some are businesses, some are volunteer-run clubs, and quite a few are a spare room in somebody's house.
| Kind of space | How people get in | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Club or play party space | Membership, an orientation night or a munch first, and usually a door fee | Busy nights, posted rules and monitors on the floor |
| Playroom for hire | Booked by a couple or a small group for an evening or a few hours | Private, which means the safety plan is entirely yours |
| Professional studio | Appointments with a paid professional | A business arrangement, and not what this directory is for |
| Private playroom at home | An invitation from the owner once trust is built | Meet somewhere public first, and let a friend know the address |

Inside
Inside a BDSM dungeon: rules, monitors and safewords
Any BDSM dungeon worth your evening runs on house rules, and you'll usually be asked to read and agree to them at the door, often alongside a photo ID check. Dungeon monitors, known as DMs, walk the floor while people play. They watch for anything that looks unsafe, step in when a scene goes wrong and settle disagreements, and what they decide stands. Most spaces also have a house safeword, very often "red", which stops any scene in the room whatever the players agreed between themselves. Look for a quieter corner set aside for aftercare, with water and blankets, because coming down gently after intense play is part of doing it well.
House rules you'll meet almost everywhere
- Phones stay out of the play areas, and nobody takes photos.
- Don't touch a person, or their gear, unless you've been asked.
- Watch from a respectful distance and keep your commentary to yourself.
- Never step into someone else's scene. If something worries you, find a monitor.
- Wipe down whatever equipment you use; cleaning supplies are usually close by.
- Arrive sober and stay that way. Many spaces serve no alcohol at all.
Straight answer
BDSM dungeons near me: the honest answer
If you typed "BDSM dungeons near me" and ended up here, you deserve a straight reply. My BDSM Directory doesn't list dungeons, clubs, venues or events, and it has no forum where anyone posts them. What it has is people. Play spaces open and close, keep a low profile, and often admit newcomers only after a munch or an orientation, so the best map you'll get is a local who already goes. Most people hear about their first space at a munch, through a local group or on a kink social network. Our guide to the BDSM community explains how those work, and members near you can fill in the rest.
When your BDSM dungeon near me search comes up empty
Searching for a BDSM dungeon near me from a small town often brings back a city two hours away, or nothing at all. That's normal. A public play space needs a big crowd to keep the lights on, so most sit in or near larger cities, and kinksters in quieter places tend to go one of two ways. Some save a club night for the occasional weekend away, planned with a friend. Others get to know a nearby couple or a Dom with a playroom of their own, and build trust slowly. Set your radius wider than feels natural, and watch for profiles that mention a space.
The blunter search
Sex dungeon near me: what you'll really find
Plenty of people search "sex dungeon near me" when what they're picturing is a BDSM play space, and the reality is worth knowing first. Most dungeons are calmer and far more rule-bound than the phrase suggests. Some allow no sexual contact anywhere on the premises, others allow it only in certain rooms or on certain nights, and every house writes its own rules. What brings most regulars back is the equipment, the company and the feeling of being somewhere it's safe to be themselves. Go expecting a social evening with a strict code of conduct and you'll rarely be let down. Go expecting anything goes and you won't be asked back.
Sex dungeons near me, behind a private front door
Many of the sex dungeons near me that people actually end up visiting are private: a basement or spare room that a couple or a Dom has set up over the years. You're invited into one because someone trusts you, not because you clicked a booking button. You're walking into someone else's home, so take more care than you would with any other meeting. Talk for a while first, meet at a coffee shop or bar with no play planned, and settle limits and a safeword well before the day. Make sure a friend knows the address and when you'll check in. A host who pushes back on any of that has told you enough.
First visit
Your first dungeon visit: etiquette that gets you asked back
-
A few days before
Read the rules, then ask
Most spaces publish their house rules and dress code. Read both, and message the host about anything unclear. Many want first-timers at an orientation night.
-
At the door
ID ready, nerves expected
Bring photo ID and expect to sign the rules. Say it's your first time; someone will usually show you around and point out the monitors.
-
On the floor
Watch more than you play
A first visit can be all watching, and that's completely fine. Give scenes room, never join one uninvited, and keep your phone out of sight.
-
The next day
Check in with yourself
Notice how you feel. If you went with someone, talk through what you liked and what you'd change. That's how the second visit beats the first.
Where we fit
How My BDSM Directory gets you closer
The directory earns its place at the step before the dungeon: finding the people you'd go with. Members are sorted by place, so you pick your country and region, then see who's an easy drive away. Your profile can say you have a playroom, that you'd love access to one, or that you'd like a guide for a first club night, in your own words. A free account covers a full profile and browsing, with messages up to a daily limit. Going VIP lifts that limit, adds filters for experience level, city and distance, and opens private group chats of up to fifty. Our page on BDSM chat covers the talking side.
Look after yourself
Staying safe before your first scene
Inside a well-run space, monitors are watching. The risk sits mostly in the private arrangements around it: the stranger offering to take you, the home playroom, the ride back. Here's what helps with that part.
- Look for the ID badge. It's free and optional, and some members confirm who they are on a video check with a moderator instead.
- You're known by your username, and other members only ever see the town nearest you, not your street.
- Keep talking inside the site until you trust someone. If they try to switch the chat to some other app, the site flags it.
- Block anyone who pushes past a no, then report them. A real person on the support team can help at any hour.
- Never pay a "membership", "deposit" or "entry fee" to someone you've only met online.

Dungeon questions
Asked Before The First Visit.
Can I find a BDSM dungeon near me on My BDSM Directory?
Not as a list: the directory doesn't list dungeons, clubs, venues or events. What you can find is members near you, and someone who already goes to a local space is the best guide to it. Some members say on their profile whether they have a playroom or would like to see one.
Do I need a partner to go to a dungeon?
Not usually. Lots of spaces welcome single visitors, though some keep certain nights for couples or ask singles to come to an orientation first. Going alone just to watch is common. Never expect a stranger to play with you because you turned up, though.
What should I wear to a BDSM dungeon?
Whatever the dress code asks for, so check before you go. Many ask for black clothing or fetish wear, some don't allow everyday street clothes in the play areas, and some have a room to change in. If you're not sure, ask the host. Comfortable shoes matter more than you'd think.
What does a dungeon monitor do?
A dungeon monitor watches the play areas, steps in if a scene looks unsafe, makes sure the house rules are kept and answers questions. If a monitor stops a scene or asks you to move along, do it without arguing. Their call is final.
Is a sex dungeon the same as a BDSM dungeon?
Usually it's the same kind of place under a blunter name. Rules on sexual contact vary a lot: some spaces ban it outright, others limit it to certain rooms. Read the house rules before you go, and if they don't say, ask.
